Manh Duc, new CO4SYS PhD student

Welcome to Manh Duc Nguyen, CO4SYS new PhD student since the 10th of november.

He is supervised by Ionela Prodan.

His office is in D building, 1st floor, D110.

– Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
My name is Manh Duc Nguyen, originally from Vietnam. I am delighted to be joining the lab as a PhD student. Although I can be a little reserved at first, I truly enjoy meeting new people, discovering new perspectives, and learning from others. I also have a strong interest in travelling, football, and live music, and I am currently improving my French to communicate more effectively with my colleagues.

– What is your background (education, experience, etc.)?
I hold an Engineer degree in Complex Systems Engineering from ESISAR – Grenoble INP, UGA, obtained through a double-degree program supported by the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship. Before that, I graduated in Energy Systems Engineering from the Institut Polytechnique de Ho Chi Minh Ville (Vietnam).
My academic and professional experiences have focused on modeling and control of industrial systems, including the optimization of electric arc furnace operations and the coordination of multi-drone systems using advanced control methods.

– What skills can you share?
My core expertise lies in system modeling, simulation, and control design, particularly in the context of complex industrial and energy systems. I am proficient in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, ROS, and Gazebo, and I have experience in predictive and optimal control. Beyond technical knowledge, I value teamwork, responsibility, and continuous learning.

– Where can we find you? How can we contact you?
You can contact me by email at manh-duc.nguyen@lcis.grenoble-inp.fr. I will also be regularly present at the lab during my PhD research.

– Would you like to share anything else (an experience, a passion, something personal, etc.)?
I am passionate about research that contributes to energy efficiency and sustainable industrial development. Outside the lab, I enjoy watching football, attending music concerts, and exploring new places — activities that keep me inspired and balanced.
